Historical Society honors 30-year volunteer

BY GRANT SMITH
SOUTH COAST BEACON

In recognition of her 30 years of service to the Santa Barbara Historical Society, the Museum Council has bestowed the title of master docent on Kathi Brewster.

Brewster began her work at the society after responding to a newspaper advertisement seeking volunteers. In the three decades since she started, she has taken on a number of responsibilities, including currently chairing the Historical Society Oral History committee and assuming the role of Docent Council Archivist. She is also a past chairwoman of the Docent Council Steering Committee and oversaw training.

Brewster is also associated with Friends of the American Associate of Museums, Architectural Foundation of Santa Barbara, Braille Institute, Riviera Association, Santa Barbara County Genealogy Society, Santa Barbara Mission Archive-Library, Santa Barbara Trust for Historic Preservation, UCSB History Associates and Westerners’ International Santa Barbara Corral.
