Xia You, 24, of Goleta, suffered a facial fracture when her bicycle was struck by a car in a crosswalk at the intersection of El Colegio and Los Carneros roads in Isla Vista Tuesday morning, the California Highway Patrol reported.

A 1984 Oldsmobile driven by Juan Garcia, Carpinteria, clipped You’s bicycle as he made a left turn onto El Colegio from Los Carneros, CHP Officer Don Clotworthy said. You, who was not wearing a helmet, was knocked off her bike and her head hit the pavement. She was transported by UCSB ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital after the 10:20 a.m. accident. The cause of the collision is under investigation, Clotworthy said.
