Bicyclist
injured in traffic collision

Xia You, 24, of Goleta, suffered a facial fracture when her bicycle
was struck by a car in a crosswalk at the intersection of El Colegio
and Los Carneros roads in Isla Vista Tuesday morning, the California
Highway Patrol reported.
A 1984 Oldsmobile driven by Juan Garcia, Carpinteria, clipped You’s
bicycle as he made a left turn onto El Colegio from Los Carneros, CHP
Officer Don Clotworthy said. You, who was not wearing a helmet, was
knocked off her bike and her head hit the pavement. She was transported
by UCSB ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital after the 10:20
a.m. accident. The cause of the collision is under investigation, Clotworthy
said.
